Recycled timber cabinet

IMG_4967

Yesterday I whipped up this adorable rustic display cabinet using recycled garden fence timber I collected on the street a few months ago. It’s been sitting in the weather so it has all the perfect stains and fades I like. I was inspired by a similar design I saw at a wedding over the weekend which they had used to display cupcakes on their dessert table.

If you would like to make one for yourself, this is what you’ll need:

* 5 metres of recycled timber (cut into 50cm lengths = 10 pieces) NB. my two vertical pieces are 40cm as this is all I had on hand

* Drill

* Screws x 48 (3 per join)

* Hand saw or power saw

* A good TA

Cut lengths of timber to size.

Layout the cabinet in place on a flat surface. It helps if you have a TA to help you – it makes the job quicker and more fun. They can hold the cabinet in place while you do the drilling and screwing.

Pre-drill holes where screws will be placed.

Screw into place.

Job done.

Enjoy your creation!
