Giving it gusto – a lesson

P1030476

After months of whinging about the copious amounts of washing up I have to do daily (our rental has no dishwasher), agonising in my mind how awful it is, putting the task off for as long as possible each day and lamenting how unfair it is that my husband seems to always avoid this task, I reached a turning point. I dove right in and did it with gusto.

What a fabulous feeling to just achieve it, quickly and without the pain of how horrid the task is. I discovered that with gusto it was actually enjoyable. It was over before I knew it and when I was doing it I was thinking about all the things I could do once it was done so was totally distracted from the task at hand.

I think I’ll do a lot more mundane tasks with my newfound enthusiasm. As the old saying goes – ‘don’t sweat the small stuff!’ Too right!
